Michael Messinger founded Redwood in 2010 as a money management firm rooted in quantitative research with a **_RiskFirst_** philosophy.

As Portfolio Manager, he oversees the construction, implementation and live risk management of Redwood’s U.S. equity and fixed-income strategies and funds, representing more than $2 billion in assets under management. He specializes in credit research, trading, and oversight of the firm’s **_RiskFirst_** investment process, buy-list, and portfolio compositions.

Michael directs Redwood’s tactical risk-managed and strategic asset allocation policy. He oversees the firm’s scope of client solutions, ensuring that Redwood delivers its risk-adjusted investment capabilities from multi-asset-class vehicles to ETFs.

With over 15 years of investment experience, Michael has expanded Redwood’s capabilities into tactical and strategic beta investment solutions that include _AlphaFactor_ equity strategies, _LeaderShares_ ETFs, and Dynamic/Engineered Risk-Budgeted Model asset allocation portfolios.

After close collaboration with investors and “allocators” in the leveraged finance ecosystem, he developed the initial Tactical High-Yield strategy, Defensive Credit. That research foundation helped launch the Redwood Managed Risk Plus L.P. hedge fund, the Multi-Sector Managed Risk strategy, and the Systematic Macro Trend (_SMarT_) strategy – and facilitated the implementation of strategies in mutual funds that have been awarded 5 Stars by Morningstar.

Prior to founding Redwood Investment Management, Michael worked for Riversource Investments (now known as Columbia Management), as well as ING, and began his career as an Analyst at UBS. He received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Richard Duff oversees Redwood’s investment solutions from initial ideation to final implementation and risk management. He is responsible for implementing the **_RiskFirst_** process across asset classes and serves as the portfolio manager for Redwood _AlphaFactor_ and _LeaderShares_ mutual funds and ETFs.

As Portfolio Manager, Richard directs the firm’s equity strategies, investment rules, and credit research, ensuring that portfolio construction aligns with the firm’s research and strategy objectives. He oversees Redwood’s strategic and tactical asset allocation policy implemented in the Dynamic/Engineered Risk-Budgeted Model asset allocation portfolios, representing more than $2 billion in assets under management.

Across more than two decades of senior investment management experience, Richard has led investment strategy and direction for large and small firms, with responsibility for security selection, exposure management, asset allocation positioning, process implementation, distribution teams, and framework engineering for a wide spectrum of investment management solutions.

Prior to Redwood, he joined BlackRock as a Managing Director, serving as a member of the Equity Operating Committee and the AMG Executive Team. At BlackRock, Richard managed a 100-member team with a nine-figure P&amp;L, turned around the firm’s closed-end fund franchise – including the successful launch of BlackRock’s first equity strategy closed-end funds – and led the integration of the largest retained group in BlackRock’s first investment management firm acquisition. His institutional experience includes leadership at JMP Group and OMT Capital management, where he delivered long/short and concentrated long-only equity solutions to institutional clients around the globe, including some of the largest public pension plans in the U.S.

Richard began his career as a Senior Investment Officer at Pacific Income Advisers where he was a member of the equity strategy team utilizing quantitative screening in equity portfolio management, with an AUM of more than $1 billion. Richard received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley, attended Washington and Lee University, School of Law and received his JD from the University of San Francisco, School of Law.

Michael is Redwood’s Head of Quantitative Research and leads development, implementation, and risk management of Redwood’s quantitative investment strategies. This includes the research, design, and ongoing maintenance of Redwood’s proprietary models and algorithms.

As Portfolio Manager, he works closely with the firm’s principals and investment team to oversee the live execution and portfolio management of Redwood’s tactical risk-managed fixed-income and equity mutual funds, _LeaderShares_ ETFs, and Dynamic/Engineered Risk-Budgeted Models (DRB/ERB), representing more than $2 billion in assets.

Michael brings 12 years of direct experience in capital markets: equities, fixed income, derivatives, global macro, market microstructure, and quantitative research and execution.

Prior to joining Redwood in 2013, Michael worked as a head trader on a global equities trading desk and led a team specializing in algorithmic statistical arbitrage strategies that traded across multiple asset classes. He was a proprietary quantitative systematic trader at Agoge Capital and began his investment career at PIMCO. He studied quantitative economics and mathematics at the University of California, Irvine.

Vincent Calvanese is the Head of Private Market Investments at Redwood. He is an accomplished and dynamic professional with a proven track record in forming and leading successful sales teams. Vincent has established himself as an influential figure in the Private Credit, Real Estate, and Private Equity (PE) space. His exceptional leadership skills and strategic mindset have consistently driven his teams to raise billions of dollars in capital.

With 23 years of Distribution Experience, the past 9 focused on private markets, Vincent possesses a deep understanding of the intricacies and complexities that define this rapidly evolving sector. By staying at the forefront of market trends and leveraging his expansive network, Vincent has consistently delivered unparalleled results and achieved significant growth.

Prior to joining Redwood, Vincent has been instrumental in establishing and nurturing strong relationships with key industry players, including institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals, and industry experts. He has served as a Senior Vice President at Transamerica Capital and the Western Division Director at FS Investment Solutions.

Vincent received his B.A. in Economics from Penn State.

Jason Bordenick is a Managing Director and a Portfolio Manager. He is responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of firm’s investments. In addition, Jason is responsible for strategic capital formation & growth initiatives.

Jason has over 14 years of industry experience and has invested $4.0+ Billion in CRE debt and equity while holding senior investment positions at various institutions.  Prior to joining Maxim, Jason was the founder and Managing Principal of Seven Valleys Capital (SVC), the direct lending arm for a multi-billion dollar (AUM) single-family office.
